Where it’s seen to I don’t even care to see
Augusto de Campos
Daughter of Geraldo de Barros, one of the pioneers of concrete art in Brazil, but also the permanent experiment maker from before and after the orthodox period of the movement, Lenora will undoubtedly have inherited from the art-photographer-painter-designer his radicalness, but also his unquietness. Still, as a child, she was curious to hear Geraldo’s conversations with the concrete poets – strange conspirers of the arts visiting her father. Thus, instigated by poetry since her childhood, but also a congenial artist, she ?s situated in the daring front of those I call the “between” artists, those who are, i.e., open new ways to the sensitivity of the reader-spectator. For this very reason, lately, they’ve been more frequent in the art galleries than in the book environments, once the literary disciplinarians haven’t yet realized the world has changed and nothing else can be closed into separate compartments after the technological and internet revolution. It wasn’t a chance that, when invited to participate in the 7a Mercosul Biennial, in 2009, Lenora chose, as the theme of her project, work by John Cage, the prophet of interdisciplinary art, whose personality I’ve tried to synthesize from the chance of his name: Cage Chance Change. Lenora’s work that has long expanded apart from the understood according to these parameters. Her work is already extensive and deserves a deep study. biometaphors – face, gesture, voice. From the early deconstruction adventures of the 80’s, from the photopoems to the permanent search of her artistic identity: PROCURO-ME (2003). A search that has NEM VER (2005) and LUGAR DE SEMPRE (2010). Therefore, in her own words, Lenora “embodies” and “disembodies” her live poetics. Deconstruction of the I and the being. As a poet, I can only salute the courage and the competence of Lenora, by investing her talent in the art poetry of the “between” – a strong response to the challenge of the new technologies, in a trajectory that shows many luminous.
